YEPP conference in San Marino
The Young Christian Democrats are honored to announce that 62 youth from parties belonging to the European People’s Party (EPP) from 43 different countries will be hosted next 21 – 24 October. The purpose of the Conference will be to present motions relating to the topics of discussion, which will be voted on and, only subsequently, presented within the EPP which will be able to present them to the European Parliament. The main theme of this event will be “The future of Europe”, also in the face of the Association Agreement with the European Union that the Republic of San Marino is implementing in recent weeks, which will allow us young people to immerse ourselves in within the broader European context and thus bring the perspective of the Young Christian Democrats to the attention of other countries. During the Conference, the GDCs will focus on extremely topical and important issues, both for San Marino and more generally for Europe: starting from the Association Agreement (with the possibility for San Marino to enter the Single Market European), up to “political disaffection”, that is the lack of and disinterested participation in the political life of citizens, and again, from sustainability (social, economic and environmental) to the value of democracy. Welcoming our guests will be: Dr. Nino Galetti (Head of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung International Office in Italy), Pasquale Valentini (PDCS President), Kevin Maas (YEPP Secretary General), Giancarlo Venturini (PDCS General Secretary) , Lorenzo Bugli (President of GDC). At the start of the second day, the presentation of the Secretary of State for Labor Teodoro Lonfernini will take place, which will be followed by the interventions of guests of high international prestige such as: Antonio Tajani (former President of the European Parliament and Vice-President of the EPP and Forza Italia) , Roberta Metsola (Vice-President of the European Parliament), Sven Simon (Member of the European Parliament), Dr. Nino Galetti (Head of the International Office in Italy) and Luca Beccari (Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of San Marino), with the participation by Markus Krienke as moderator of the debate. This debate and exchange of visions on the “Future of Europe” will be introduced by Dubravka Šuica (Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography). The last panel of the day will focus on the “Role of Youth in Europe”, which will see the intervention of: Lidia Pereira (Member of the European Parliament and President of the YEPP), Ruben Alexander Schuster (International Secretary of the CDU), Konstantinos Kyranakis ( Member of the Hellenic Parliament), Christodoulos Ioannou (Councilor of Larnaka City) and Sara Skyttedak (Member of the European Parliament). During the third and final day, Karlo Ressler (Member of the European Parliament) and Costanza Andreini (Head of public policies Greece and Italy) will address the topic of “Digital Skills” together with the Secretary of State for Culture Andrea Belluzzi, preceded by the intervention of Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati. For us GDC it is a real honor to be able to host an event and guests of such international prestige. Event that will give enormous prominence to the Republic of San Marino and its relations with the institutions of the European Union.
