WHO regional director praises measures to combat the pandemic in Portugal
AN Minister of Health, Marta Temido, public on Tuesday afternoon, October 18, the Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe, Hans Kluge.
According to a publication shared in the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) page, the official praised the measures to combat the pandemic in Portugal.
During the meeting, Marta Temido reaffirmed the “high commitment of Portugal to the sharing of vaccines at a global level”, highlighting the advantage in the exchange of knowledge between countries and European institutions in matters of health.
Kluge congratulated the Minister of Health for the high vaccination coverage in Portugal, for the maintenance of non-pharmacological measures in the prevention and control of the pandemic, for the sharing of vaccines with other countries and also for the “management and approach of Portugal in mental health policies” .
Both agreed on the intention to increase Portugal-WHO collaboration, in particular, on issues such as antimicrobial resistance and ‘one health’.

Also yesterday, remember, President Marcelo called Hans Kluge, for the audience at the Belém Palace. During the meeting, according to Presidency of the Republic, “themes such as the Covid-19 pandemic were addressed, the lessons to be learned from this moment, and ideas were exchanged on how the health of populations should be addressed in the future”.
