Debrecen – Throughout the day the program is interactive and players anyone can learn to have a smaller ecological footprint. Several organizations, including the Future of Debrecen movement, were introduced to the Green Exchange.
It was online last year, but this year everyone was already waiting for the Green Exchange of the University of Debrecen.
– At the university, our faculty has a long tradition of teaching nature conservation, environmental management and game management. Yes, but only those who have been admitted take part in these classes – emphasized László Juhász, head of the Department of Nature Zoology and Game Management at the University of Debrecen.
Students from all faculties are once again coming to the Green Exchange to learn in an interactive way what we can do to protect the environment.
At the event, anyone could make their own waxed shawl. This reusable packaging material can replace, for example, nylon bags. According to the organizers, such small steps are important in nature conservation.
“If these 30,000 students do a little for the environment and nature, we can create a better world for ourselves and our grandchildren,” said Péter Szilágyi, chairman of the DEHÖK Environmental Committee.
Many nature conservation associations and organizations were presented at the Green Circle. At the stand of the Future of Debrecen, not only could anyone learn how to grow vegetables at home in a special pot, but the aims of the movement were also explained to those interested.
“A green task force to help the city work was also here, in this community. We got to know them practically in such a way that conversations started, just as they can start here today. Those young professionals who learn this, this is their area of interest, can get involved in the process of how we can make Debrecen even greener, said Deputy Mayor Ákos Balázs.
The goal of the green city was also helped by the fact that the applicants could make canvas shopping bags at the exchange. With these, we can produce 80-100 plastic bags per person per year, with a degradation time of five hundred years.
