unemployment down and 10,000 jobs to be filled
The unemployment rate in Luxembourg peaks at 5.5% and has “almost” returned to its pre-crisis level, says Statec in its monthly report this Wednesday morning. The number of “long-term” job seekers, however, continues to increase.
The unemployment rate continues to plummet for this month of October 2021. If currently, 15,641 residents of the country are still looking for work, on the account however 12.5% less unemployed than in September 2020, a decrease of 12.5%.
A significant reduction which allows Luxembourg to “almost” regain its pre-crisis level, according to Statec data.
But a shadow remains on the board. Indeed, it is on the side of “long-term” unemployment that the shoe pinches: currently, more than 52% of the unemployed registered with Adem have been registered for more than 12 months. A phenomenon which “continues to grow” according to the institute, which is worried.
More than 10,000 positions to be filled
However, the available positions have multiplied in the last six months, even exceeding the 10,000 mark for the first time. Currently, 10,708 positions are available from employers at Adem, an increase over one year of 60.1%.
The main sectors looking for candidates are currently accounting and auditing (1576 positions), construction and crafts (1489 positions), information and communication technologies (956 positions) banking and banking. finance (772 positions) as well as the Horeca (748 positions).
