Is the crêperie de la Migoudène living its last hours on the Roosevelt alleys of Toulouse? Extension of the agreement was not awarded by the town hall, plunging the future of the kiosk into uncertainty.
” I am scared “
Since November 2019, La Migoudène has been installed on allées Roosevelt, between the Jean-Jaurès metro exit and Place Wilson. Laure Potet, the crepe maker, does not hide it: “ I’m scared, because in 11 days I’m out of work. I have a loan to pay… I find that it is unfair for me, unfair for the place. “
In August, orally, someone from the town hall told me “we are not ready to launch the new call for projects”, which is the legal choice to be made in this context. He told me that if I asked for an extension, the town hall would give me, that way, it could give six months or even one to everyone.
She does. ” My request was refused, via a letter I received on Wednesday October 13. I am worried because in 11 days, I will no longer have a room, so I have no more work ”, regrets Laure Potet.
“I thought I had a few months to get back to myself, find another project. I expected to be able to stay until the tender was issued. There, 11 days, it’s a bit short“, She continues.
Several exchanges with the town hall
Laure Potet would like to point out: “there is no conflict with the town hall. Friday, I had someone from the Direction des Marchés et des Occupations du Domaine Public (DMODP), who told me that I was applying for open air markets. I’m studying the question, but it’s not the same job. I have done it before, but I don’t really have a car, that requires costs… ”
“I can see that the town hall is trying to help me, but I find it difficult to understand. ”The crêpe maker of Migoudène was able to discuss with Christophe Alves. Elected to the town hall, he oversees the files around the kiosks. Contacted by News Toulouse, the latter justifies this decision ” due to the legal framework“.
When the agreements were signed, the operators had the choice to specify for how long they wished to sign. As she had no long-term vision, she wished to sign for two years, knowing that afterwards, this agreement could neither be modified nor extended. She knows the legal outlines of this document and has been informed twice.
“The extension of the convention is not possible because it is regulatory, hammers the chosen one. She knows it, she does not discover it now ”. Christophe Alves says he spoke with Laure Potet again Friday 15 and Monday 18 October 2021.
We made two proposals to him. She could apply as a street vendor, which she refused because she is not equipped for. The second is a proposal to be present in the open air markets. We took stock on Monday, she hesitated on this or that market.
A wave of support
This story drew reactions, since a petition has emerged on the change.org site, with a fairly explicit name: ” Give us back the Migoudene!“. Launched on October 16, it brought together, on the 19th, 231 signatures. “It’s heartwarming, appreciate Laure Potet. “There is also a paper petition, with 400 signatures.”
This is what made the town hall move with the proposal for open air markets … Maybe it comes from there! It proves that my place is justified here … All the customers that I see do not understand this decision.
“Despite everything that has happened over the past two years, it’s going well, I have a good clientele“. First on the Pont des Demoiselles, Laure Potet admits that she does not know Jean-Jaurès well at the start. On the kiosk opposite, there are resellers installed all day … But overall, there is more positive ”.
While waiting for things to evolve, and while the countdown is launched until October 31, Laure Potet expresses a wish: “to remain in place until the outcome of the call for tenders. If I win it, I will stay, if not, I will leave, of course. I’m not asking for a free pass!”
Regarding the call for projects, Christophe Alves declares that the town hall “ is working on it. I am taking over the files, since it is a delegation that has just been entrusted to me recently ”. It will be carried out “in the coming months. Madame Potet will be able to answer them., if she wishes ”.
