The tender to sell the old Line 1 metro trains should be deserted. Of the 3 companies that had shown interest in the deal, none finally submitted an offer by the deadline of 30 April. So the Anm will auction 5 convoys, selling them for 2 thousand euros each, as a starting price.

Public transport in Naples
The tender to sell i old Metro Line 1 trains. The Anm, the transport company of the Municipality of Naples, had launched a tender last February, as anticipated by Fanpage.it, to put on the market 10 old trains from the 90s no longer used at a total cost of 1.4 million euros. On appeal 3 companies replied within the deadline who showed up on the recycling of materials and showed interest in the deal. But none ultimately submitted an offer. so theAnm will auction the trains, only 5 at the moment. These are 10 traction units (each train is made up of 2 Udt), the most run-down ones, selling them at a starting price of 2 thousand euros each, respect to 18 thousand euros originally planned. While for the other 5 trains, estimated at 250 thousand euros each, because they are in a better state, other solutions will be sought.
In short, with only 2 thousand euros, you could take a subway train home. Obviously, whoever wins the train will also have to pay for the transport out of his own pocket. And it is precisely one of the reasons that pulled the competitors back one by one. These are convoys built between 1990 and 1993 and put into operation on Line 1 of the underground between 1993 and 2003. They were then withdrawn from service largely between 2017 and 2020.
Anm wants to get rid of it because there is no room in the Piscinola warehouse, where the first new trains bought in Spain by the municipality have already arrived and space needs to be made. Of the 22 old metro trains available (45 traction units), there are currently only 9 trains (18 Udt). Unfortunately the others are out of order and left in storage, sometimes used for spare parts. Among those stopped there are also the trains involved in the railway accident that occurred in Piscinola on January 14, 2020, seized and then returned by the prosecutor on 28 October following, but no longer in a condition to circulate. The Municipality, however, bought 20 new trains from the Caf in Bilbao and booked 4. The ANM therefore also disposed of a total of about 21 Traction Units out of 45, equal to 10 trains.

At the expression of interest launched by Anm, last March 3 companies replied within the deadline operating in the metal scrap trading sector (another 3 replied out of time or only asked for information). But at the end of the announcement, on April 30, no one submitted an offer and the tender was deserted. The auction prices, in fact, according to the companies, were too high. In fact, the ANM had foreseen a starting price for each train that could go from 18 thousand euros, for those made worse off unable to walk, up to 250 thousand euros, for those in better shape. But transport costs must also be added to these figures, which are very high. The companies then said they have no interest in trains capable of walking for € 250,000 each, because they are not part of their business. In the end it was decided to auction off only the 5 worst-off trains, at 2 thousand euros each.
