Group G: Salzburg on their way to the last sixteen
RB Salzburg celebrated the 2nd victory in the 3rd group game. Match winner at 3: 1 against the VfL Wolfsburg War Noah Okafor. The 21-year-old from Basel scored in the 65th and 77th minutes. Both times he was spot on in front of the goal after a corner and pocketed a free ball from close range. The Austrians had already taken the lead in the 3rd minute and after a major dropout by Nati defender Kevin Mbabu through Karim Adeyemi. Wolfsburg’s Felix Nmecha was able to defeat Swiss RB keeper Philipp Köhn in the 15th minute with a head to make it 1-1.
Separates in the other group game Lille and the Sevilla FC 0-0. This means that Salzburg (7 points) is already 4 lengths ahead of second-placed Seville.
Group E: Bayern only shine at the end
Celebrated in group E. Bayern Munich a 4-0 win Benfica Lisbon. The result belies the fact that it was still 0-0 after 70 minutes – also because two alleged Bayern goals were rightly denied. Sané broke the spell with a remarkable free kick. Later he made it 3-0 and scored the 4-0. Coach Julian Nagelsmann had to stay in the hotel due to illness.
That came in the basement duel FC Barcelona against Dynamo Kiev to a narrow but deserved 1-0 home win. Gerard Piqué scored the golden goal in the 36th minute and is now alone the most dangerous defender with 16 CL goals (ahead of Sergio Ramos / 15). With this, the Catalans keep the door open to the knockout phase after their clear defeats against Bayern and Benfica.
Group H: Juventus keeps a clean slate
A late header from Sweden Dejan Kulusevski secured Juventus Turin in the 1-0 victory Zenit Saint Petersburg the “threesome”. The Allegri team remains without losing points and conceding a goal.
Chelsea conquered the inferiore Malmö FF in partly pouring rain, certainly 4-0, but lost Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner due to injuries. Jorginho scored twice on penalties. The Swedes have 0 points and 0:11 goals after 3 games.
