Inauguration of the Academic Year 2021 – 22 of the University of San Marino: “For the future we need a revision of the 2014 reform”
“We now believe that a revision, with an update, of the 2014 reform law is mandatory”. The Rector of the University of the Republic of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli, underlined one of the priorities of the University during the speech that saw him yesterday on the stage of the Kursaal Congress Center on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the 2021 Academic Year – 22: “The progressive development of what has been built and the premises for a solid future – he explained the path of the University in Europe and beyond – also pass from the ability to respond to needs from the possibility of being able to sit fully on the network international level of universities according to universally recognized common standards and dictates “. Hence the need for an intervention: “We are working with the Secretariat of State to formulate a proposal that can make the University’s autonomy effective in the future and finally guarantee the creation of a stable staff of teaching staff”. In his speech before the Captains Regent, Rectors of Italian and foreign universities, institutional representatives and more, Petrocelli summarized the activities that characterize the University, primarily training and research programs with positive effects on the territory and for the San Marino community. , also citing the conclusion “of the long process of joining the ‘Bologna process’, signed by the Magna Carta”, with entry into the European Higher Education Area. A result, this, also highlighted by the Secretary of State for Education and Culture, Andrea Belluzzi, who has a fundamental indicator precisely the entry into the “great community of European and world universities. I underline – he recalled – the result achieved when, following a path started in 2008, last November we entered the European Higher Education Area, the ‘Bologna process’ ”. According to the government exponent, this is the “first real foot of San Marino within the European Union. It is the space in which all the universities of Europe meet and dialogue. To enter it is necessary to undergo severe tests on quality, transparency, efficiency, equal opportunities and the founding values of academic realities “. The speeches by Petrocelli and Belluzzi were followed by the awarding of an honorary doctorate in Historical Sciences to Andrea Riccardi, president of the Dante Alighieri Society and founder of the Community of Sant’Egidio, as well as a former Italian minister for international cooperation and integration.
