The Netherlands is attractive for start-ups, what makes us a good business climate?
The Netherlands ranks fourth in Europe and thirteenth worldwide when it comes to a good business climate for start-ups. This is evident from the Global Startup Ecosystem Report. Tjerk Opmeer, director of International Programs at, explains why and tells a good business location for a good business location.
The Netherlands has a lot of knowledge and innovations. There are many technical topics, for example charging station technology. Universities of technology have many talented students where their ideas find their way to companies through valorisation programs. There is also financing and a lot of attention for small businesses that arise from these kinds of ideas. For example, at a large trade fair in Las Vegas, seventy startups and scale-ups were selected to present their ideas there. But how does that come about?
Cons
Starting in the Netherlands also has disadvantages. The competition is getting extremely high and pulling top talents is going to become more of a squeeze.
