Oscars Awards Lithuania presents G. ickyts film “Rock”

Giedrs ickyts’ documentary rock became a Lithuanian contender for the Oscar.
As the Lithuanian Film Center announced on Tuesday, this film will have the opportunity to be nominated for both the best international and documentary film at the Oscars. The selection of the candidate for the Oscar is organized by the Lithuanian Film Center and the Lithuanian Cinematographers’ Union.

According to the artist, history shows that every mogul, every deed is important and makes sense, and that the desire for freedom is not destroyed even in the darkest hours.
This year, four Lithuanian films will compete for the prestigious award and have already been noticed and evaluated at international film events: Jurgis Matuleviius Izaokas, Andrius Blaeviius Bgik, Tomas Smulkis Mons, who are making and mentioning G. ickyts’ film.
The film rock is almost the folder of the international film festival and the awards will be given to Lithuanian film last year, according to the report.
The documentary tells the story of the Lithuanian sailor Sim Kudirk, a Soviet-era shipwreck of a Soviet ship and a sheltered political asylum.

After the film became the official Lithuanian nominee Oskar, the road to the nomination award is not over. The Academy’s committees will select the best foreign film nominees from all over the world and announce the final five, which will make it to the final nominated film, only one of which will win an Oscar.
Lithuania has been represented in recent years by Alants Kavaits Sangails Summer (2015), Kristijonas Vildinas Seneca’s Day (2016), Arnas Bartas ‘film Erknas (2017), Arnas Matelis’ film Amazing Lzers. Another Planet (2018), the documentary film Time Bridges (2019) by Audrius Stonis and Latvian traveler Kristina Brieds, and last year the selected feature film Nova Lituania by Lithuanian traveler Karolis Kaupinis is claimed.
The 94th Academy Awards for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be held on March 27.
