Debrecen – Students participating in the WATCH (Women at Tech) program get to know the field of science in an experiential way, so they can try out 3D modeling, for example.
The WATCH (Women at Tech) career guidance program at the Agóra Science Experience Center was launched on Tuesday with great interest, with the support of NI, which is cooperating as a strategic partner. The aim of the initiative, which is specifically for girls, is to make the STEM fields (Science + Technology + Engineering + Mathematics = Science + Technology + Engineering + Mathematics) attractive to young people in an experiential way through a process of solving real-life engineering tasks. that they want to try. the benefits and joys of teamwork as well.
– This program can also be of decisive importance for the future of Debrecen, because it can help to present the advantages of STEM subjects and disciplines.
Many new, well-paid jobs have been created in the city in recent years that can be a real perspective and a sustaining force for today’s high school students.

The free, project-based program, which lasts until the end of the 2021/22 school year, is the 10th grade, girls’ pre-career application form, and cooperation with grammar schools in Debrecen. The selected 64 girls will work together in 4 groups, outside school hours, to implement various project work in one-and-a-half-hour sessions, but there are science professions as well as thematic days and events that also present successful female careers, all interested are welcome.
WATCH’s strategic partner is NI Hungary, whose staff also joins the program, with students mentoring and sharing experiences to help young people discover their strengths, learn about the steps of creative problem solving and the beauties of the engineering career.
At the opening of WATCH, the Managing Director of NI Hungary announced that the company will support the program with HUF 15 million.
– Creating diversity in the engineering profession, including the promotion of women’s engineering careers, is one of NI’s key social responsibility objectives.
The program, which provides practical and exciting insights into the world of the engineering profession, will help the growing generation meet the great scientific challenges of the future, Róbert Hosszu added.
The organizers hope that, as a result of WATCH, even young people who have so far thought this option is not an alternative for them will choose the engineering career as a possible career path. With the program, students can acquire future-oriented knowledge, with their innovations and discoveries, they can achieve positive changes in the world.
