The WBC title may be up for grabs in December
Ak and Barak discussed the possibility of Devin Haney meeting JoJo Diaz in December on the DAZN Boxing Show.
Haney will fight for the first time since his match in May 2021 with Jorge Linares on December 3, although there is still no certainty about his opponent.
But with Diaz now without an opponent after Ryan Garcia dropped out of his WBC eliminator, the logical choice would be that the former super featherweight would take an early title shot at 135lbs.
Barak Bess believes that the fight is the obvious next step for 28-year-old America.
“First of all, the contract was already signed with JoJo and Devin Haney, because it was a Twitter promise. What’s more legit than a Twitter promise? He joked.
“Eddie Hearn has been in the interviews, he said, ‘I do not think JoJo does not want to fight Devin Haney, I do not think he is afraid to fight Devin Haney,'” and I agree that this is not the case. .
– There is no other fight right now. It is the struggle that makes sense. It’s actually the fight he wanted until Ryan appeared back on stage. Right? This is the fight JoJo always wanted, be with Devin Haney. This is a big fight for both of them. They both recently had a really good win and this solidified.
“I think this is perfect for the lightweight division.”
Akin ‘Ak’ Reyes was similarly enthusiastic about the future.
“We love Jojo Diaz – he’s a damn fighter, man,” he claimed.
“It’s going to be a tough fight for JoJo. But Devin is better prepared too because JoJo has some speed. He feels very safe. He puts it on social media verbally and all that so I’m excited about that fight. “
