Cologne. The Düsseldorfer EG clearly won the 232nd Rhine Derby in the German Ice Hockey League at the Kölner Haien.
The team of coach Harold Kreis won on Tuesday with 6: 1 (1: 0, 3: 0, 2: 1) and climbed to fifth place in the table with 22 points. The Haie fields after the bankruptcy in front of 11,400 spectators, on the other hand, fell back to eighth place. For the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the derby took place with fans.
Niklas Postel put the guests in the lead after seven minutes. After a double strike from Brendan O’Donnell (22nd minute / 26th) and a goal from Marco Nowak (40th), the party was actually decided. In the final section, Mark Olver (49th) was able to shorten for the time being. But Carter Proft is happy to restore the four-goal gap just 19 seconds later. Daniel Fischbuch made the final score 6-1 (53rd).
