We want to get rid of the reputation of the metropolis, where alkotourists did what we want, says the mayor of Prague 1 about the night ban on alcohol | Prague 1 | From the region Pražská Drbna
Prague 1 has long been striving to calm the streets in its territory. Repeatedly observe here to violate night rest and generally binding ordinances. Rather than the streets of the Prague Monument Reserve, night Prague 1 is more reminiscent of a combat zone or concert. And one of the new tools in the fight against disturbing the night’s peace is to ban the night drinking of alcohol in public throughout the territory of Jednička. This is exactly what the town hall wants to enshrine in the newly drafted municipal decree.
Police officers and police officers will help with the ban
Prague 1, according to the mayor Petra Hejmy (STAN) is still struggling to break the night’s rest. This is mainly caused by undisciplined people drinking in the streets. “In cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic, the city police, but also with our means, we actively fight against such negative phenomena,“Mayor Hejma said.”
The new decree has more help with this fight, just as it helps in other European capitals. “In pub establishments and front gardens, all decent residents and tourists could consume lingering beer or other liquids,“The mayor said.” According to him, however, these people do not need alcohol on the street, to disturb their neighbors, and thus the decree will not have a negative effect on them.
The next part of the series of interviews with the mayors of the city districts will take us to the environment of the City Hall of Prague 1, where we talked to Petr Hejma (STAN), the mayor of Jednička. “If you live in a place that is the most beautiful in the world, you are sorry if you …
It will pay longer from the new tourist season
According to a spokesman for Prague 1 Martin Šebesta the ban is currently applicable in the selected streets, which are defined in the Annex to the existing decrees. “The night blanket ban should be in force depending on the entry into force and effectiveness of the new decree. We expect it to be by the end of the year, but not necessarily before the start of the new tourist season“He told Šebesta for Pražská Drbna.
According to the mayor, however, Prague 1 does not want a depopulated center. “We want to get rid of the reputation of the center of the metropolis, where alkotourists from all over the world felt that they could do something together, ”Said Hejma.
The original list of streets where alcohol was banned was confusing
As part of the search for individual measures, a number of working meetings took place last year between representatives of Prague 1 and the capital. Their goal was to identify and implement the possibilities of legislative changes. The original decree listed the streets where alcohol consumption is prohibited. However, it was confusing, so Jednička decided to propose this ban in a new decree of its entire territory.
The night ban on drinking alcohol in public places should apply from 10 pm to 6 am, ie during night rest periods. Another proposed change is a ban on staying in public places with an open bottle or other container with an alcoholic beverage. This is considered by current case law to be a precursor to the actual use of alcohol, which the municipality can regulate.
