The “Toulouse les Orgues” festival ended its programming on Sunday, October 17, 2021. The Daurade basilica a statement presented to the public its organ. What augurs a series rich in events.
“We can speak of a sort of general overhaul”
Yves Rechsteiner has been the artistic director of the festival since 2014. “We did concerts at that time, in 2014-2015”. But he notices ” various technical problems on this organ during the concerts which made me finally give up continuing. And afterwards, the work of church restructuring“.
“In the meantime, the church was restored, so also the setting,” continues Yves Rechsteiner. Before there was a church very dark, very XIXe century. »The organ was able to regain its splendor by being raised:« we can speak of a sort of general overhaul ».
On disassembles all mechanical parts. By doing that, we check their solidity, their validity, we replace what does not work. We reassemble everything, we adjust again, we clean all the piping. As part of the Daurade, there were some substantive technical improvements that were made, structural things that didn’t work before and that have been fixed.
The artistic director of the festival adds that “ opponent of restoration. In the first case, we revise what exists. In the second, we change the very nature of the instrument, we modify the timbres, we remove elements or we manufacture new ones ”.
Beautiful days ahead of her
This was a major change, in the context of this festival which therefore came to an end on October 17th. “I am satisfied with the concerts which were of a very high quality, savors Yves Rechsteiner. I’m happy with the audience. Overall on one had good attendance. It was my fear …”
On the occasion of this 2021 version of “Toulouse les Orgues”, the Basilique de la Daurade “has regained freshness. It is a place that will really become essential in our programming again ”, praises the artistic director.
It has become a cultural-type place to visit. It is essential because the church has charm, the organ and the acoustics are extremely beautiful. This is what I was able to verify through the two concerts that took place last week. It sounds great with backing vocals, organ, and even with instruments.
During this festival, the Basilique de la Daurade was not the only Toulouse building to respond, since the Saint-Sernin Basilica, the Salt temple, the Saint-Etienne cathedral or the church of Gésu and that of Minimal by the way, part of the programming.
