It’s never a good sign when an alarm goes off. Even less when it comes to that of a Seveso site… And Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Toulouse, the siren of ESSO website, Fondeyre district, will hold in the early evening. But don’t panic, this is just an exercise!
The siren will go off around 7 p.m.
On wires website, the Toulouse town hall specifies that the aim of the exercise is to “test the organization of emergency services in the event of an industrial accident, the procedure for triggering the PPI (Special Intervention Plan) and the setting up of command structures “.
The alarm went off around 7 p.m. to signal the end of the maneuver on the oil depot. “All arrangements will be made so that the riverside activities are not disturbed by the progress of this exercise”, adds the municipality.
If this is not just a test, the town hall recalls that in a real situation, “the triggering of this siren would mean that a risk of explosion is possible. It would then be advisable to move away from the depot by evacuating the perimeter on foot ”.
