Toulouse: the Library of Study and Heritage reopens its doors, after securing its large dome
Closed for a fortnight, the Library of Study and Heritage, rue de Périgord in Toulouse, partially reopens its doors on Tuesday, October 19. Work on its partially cracked dome is continuing.
This Tuesday, October 19, the reception and the two side consultation rooms of the Study and Heritage library, rue de Périgord in Toulouse, will reopen their doors, at the usual times: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The library had been closed for a fortnight, due to cracks in the monumental dome of the main hall. With the opening of this part of the library, access to the majority of the library’s documents will be restored, with the exception of the free access collections in the great hall. THENon-borrowing documents can be consulted on site, in the side rooms. THE’borrowing and returning documents will be possible.
The first works concluded that there was no structural problem on the dome, indicates the town hall of Toulouse. A visit with a heritage architect has just taken place, investigations and must be directed by a specialized laboratory. At the same time, the study of an alternative security solution is, in order to proceed with a total reopening of the library, as soon as possible.
