VENICE – Local police officers of Venice in action against urban decay in Campo Santa Margherita and in the nearby calli: Saturday evening, during a check with men both in uniform and in plain clothes, three students residing in the historic center, aged between 20 and 25, fined 350 euros each, caught carrying out their physiological needs in the open air.
Two commercial establishments for selling alcohol after 9 pm also ended up in the sights of the local police: this is a take-away pizzeria and another take-away food shop in the same area, also fined.
The Command of the local police reports that episodes of abandonment of food waste on the street (such as used pizza boxes and glass bottles) have been decreasing in the last period.
During the control operations, commercial establishments in the vicinity of which (within 100 meters) of food packaging thrown on the street and not promptly recovered will be fined for compliance with Article 18 of the Urban Safety Regulations.
The fine, of € 350, will be applied to the premises that distributed the containers which were then abandoned in the public street and not appropriately conferred.
The fines, in case of recidivism, will lead to temporary suspension of the activity.
