On 24 October, at the same time as the other Italian cities, Siena also participates in the “I don’t risk” campaign. To find out what each of us can do to reduce the risk deriving from earthquakes, floods and tsunamis, the appointment is in Piazza Salimbeni, on 24 October.
The Municipality of Siena and the Volunteers of the Public Assistance of Siena, of the VAB sect. of Siena and of the Public Assistance of Colle Valdelsa invites citizens to a special appointment: in Piazza Salimbeni, information points will be set up on the risks of the Earthquake / Tsunami and Flood, in collaboration with the Department of Physical, Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Siena, simulations will be created of the effects of shocks of different entities on palaces, will be present Volunteers to 4 of the ANPAS Zona Senese Dog Group who will search for them dispersed on the surface and under rubble and comfort dogs, an activity aimed at helping in overcoming the emergency situation.
At 11.30, the Councilor for Civil Protection Francesca Appolloni with the presence of the other city authorities, officially inaugurates the square of Io Non Rischio – Siena. In addition, 2 urban treks will be organized, the first at 10.30 with prof. Duccio Balestracci and the second at 15.00 with the arch. Marina Gennari, who will lead us through the history of Siena. Civil protection volunteers, institutions and the world of scientific research are returning to the streets to spread the knowledge of natural risks in our country and good civil protection practices. Volunteers and volunteers will be present in the information spaces “I do not risk”, created online and in the gazebos set up on most of the national territory, to spread the culture of prevention and raise awareness among citizens about the seismic risk, the flood risk and the tsunami.
Fundamental for the Campaign – now in its eleventh edition this year – is the active role of citizens who, on Sunday 24 October, will be able to find out and discuss in over 500 public and digital squares where, with the help of interactive and direct content streaming on social media, ideas and insights will be provided on the themes of the Campaign. Furthermore, this year’s edition is enriched by a new and important initiative, a national digital event organized by the Department of Civil Protection.
The Campaign at a national level involves over 3000 volunteers and associations belonging to about 500 associations, groups of local associations of voluntary organizations and local associations from all regions of Italy.
