Braga, Santarém and Bragança considered the safest districts in Portugal, study points out
The districts of Guarda, Santarém and Bragança are considered the three safest in Portugal, according to the 2020 Securitas Direct Safety Barometer.
In a statement sent to the newsrooms, the company informs that the study “evaluates the safest areas of the country, taking into account the number of incidents (actual triggering of alarms and intrusions) per district, recorded by the Alarm Receiving Center”.
The barometer shows that the majority of robberies and robbery in 2020 “occurred between one and four in the morning, which represents about 29.5% of the actual incidences during this period of time”, with “Monday fair is the day of the week where there are more incidents of this type”.
With no safety classification by district, Guarda is the safest, with an accident rate of 0.36%, followed by Santarém (0.51%) and Bragança (0.52%). Completing the Top 5 are Évora (0.62%) and Viseu (0.65%).
The study also shows that “at national level, small businesses – stores and restaurants – recorded the majority of robbery information: about six in 10 (59%), while offices and companies recorded 29% of incidents and industrial buildings and workshops only 12%”.
“No segment of individuals, as houses and houses represent the overwhelming majority of incidences with nine out of 10 cases. The apartments represent only 10%”, concludes the company.
