Because of Corona: Salzburg opponents without a goal hunter
Salzburg’s defense will not have to adjust to Wout Weghorst tomorrow in the Football Champions League against Wolfsburg (6.45 p.m.): The 29-year-old striker has been infected with the corona virus.
The Dutch team striker is in quarantine. All other tests on players, coaches and supervisors were negative. “Everything happens for a reason,” Weghorst responded on Instagram. Weghorst had already made corona headlines before the European Championship when it came out that he and five other Dutch team players refused to be vaccinated. He shared a post from an American corona denier on Instagram.
While the goal scorer is missing at Wolfsburg, Karim Adeyemi could return after adductor problems at Salzburg. Coach Matthias Jaissle played Wolfsburg as the favorite. “But if we’re like the first two games, then we can upset Wolfsburg a little too.”
Today Real Madrid are on the ball in Group D – with their fearful opponents: Last season, the Spanish record champions lost both duels in the group stage against Shakhtar Donetsk. After the embarrassment against Tiraspol, David Alaba and Co. now have to win in Ukraine. Even more pressure is on Leipzig, which is without a point in Group A and competes with Paris Saint-Germain today. Coach Jesse Marsch: “The math is clear: we need points.”
