The document notes that the holiday, established in early October, is aimed at strengthening the institution of the family. In addition, he should increase the importance of fatherhood in the upbringing of children. From now on, the Day of the offensive is celebrated every year on the third Sunday in October.
According to the latest census, there were more than 17.3 million families in Russia, of which 11.6 million were married couples with children, 5 million single mothers with children, 648 thousand – single fathers with children. At the same time, 11.6 million families raised one child, 4.6 million – two children, 775 thousand – three children and 229.8 thousand – four or more children.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection came up with a proposal to establish Father’s Day in Russia. The department explained that the explanatory note to the document states that the new introduction of the holiday is conditioned by Article 72 of the amendments to the Constitution on the protection of family, motherhood, fatherhood and childhood. The draft document on the holiday emphasized that at that time Father’s Day was celebrated in more than 15 Russian regions.
