- As one of the last animals from the old crocodile house, nun Mississippi alligator Eugen (46) left the zoo. His old accommodation makes way for a new research building. According to zoo curator Matthias Papies, Eugen coped well with the trip to his new home, the Budapest Zoo: “From going into the custom-made box to transporting it to arriving at Budapest Zoo, the transport went very smoothly.” Eugen’s transport box must be quite large: the alligator weighs 150 kg and measures just under four meters.
