Index – Culture – Ian Anderson, who is too old for Rock and Roll for 50 years, is blowing in Budapest again
Jethro Tull, one of the most influential bands of the seventies, playing progressive rock, will perform again on November 12 at the Congress Center in Budapest. Their previously planned Prog Years tour due to the coronavirus has now been postponed.
In addition, a contract has already been signed for the release of a new album that will support it in early 2022 – they informed the band website.
To know exactly that Jethro Tull released a material back in 1976 entitled “Too Old to Rock and Roll, and Too Young to Die” or “Too Old to Rock and Roll but Too Young to Die”, you know, and remains very active for years with 74-year-old Ian Anderson.
The band Jethro Tull was formed in Blackpool, UK, in the 1960s. Their music is characterized by the bandleader and only permanent member, Ian Anderson’s own singing style, individual flute playing, and unusual, rather complex songwriting. The other columnist was guitarist Martin Barre, who joined the recording of the second album and left the band in 2015. According to his statement
it is important for people to notice that there will no longer be Jethro Tull. There will be two solo bands: the Ian Anderson Band and the Martin Barre Band.
Initially, clubs don’t really call them back, so they often changed names to go beyond the minds of club leaders. The names were usually invented by those who took their place. one of them, a history maniac, suggested the name Jethro Tull.
Jethro Tull18th century he was a farmer who, as the inventor of the seed drill, wrote the name in the history books. Anderson later made frequent statements that if he could start again, he would never name his band again from a dead man.
Their music – although at first they only played blues rock – may later combine classical, Celtic and art rock elements.
The band released their best-known album in 1972, the Diving equipmentfive. The title character, Aqualung, is an alcoholic, pedophile homeless, and although the record has been the subject of countless criticisms, Locomotive Breath has become a real hit.
Jethro Tull released his last album to date in 2014. None of these old members are playing anymore.
The band also has a Hungarian aspect. One of their best-known songs is entitled “Budapest,” which according to the story is about a love adventure. The first verse of the song was in a hasty translation:
I think he was a mid-distance runner
There was a great reason for a party …
A perfect smile played on his face
In Budapest. Hot night in Budapest.
