Help, even the exterminator can’t find the critters – BZ Berlin
News from the rat apartment on Stettiner Straße: The suspicious kitchen wall has been opened!
Michaela Hartmann (58) from Hochzeitshut has been the pests in her Degewo apartment since July. She suspected that rodents were dying in the plasterboard between the kitchen and bathroom.
The housing association sent an exterminator – but he only used poisonous bait. Then suddenly a terrible stench! “The rats must have died in the wall and now rot there,” said the tenant.
Rats? According to the exterminator, the rodents are long-tailed mice. Wildlife expert Derk Ehlert (54) also says: “If I had to commit myself to one type based on the photo, I would tend to prefer the mouse rather than the rat.”
But how do the animals get into the apartment? “The mice climb up the vine on the outside wall of the old building,” said the exterminator, “therefore gilded: do not leave windows wide open all the time!”
