Ethiopians win ″ half of Lisbon, Samuel Barata and Solange Jesus the best Portuguese
Ethiopians Gerba Beyat Dibaba and Ethelmahu Sintoyehu Desci won, this Sunday, the half-marathon in Lisbon, in men and women, respectively, in which Samuel Barata and Solange Jesus were the best Portuguese.
In the men’s race, Dibaba clocked 1:01.21 hours, imposing himself on the Kenyan Isaac Kipsan Temoi (1:01.23) and the Eritrean Awet Habte Gherezghiabehr (1:02.11), who concluded the race, which ended in the Praça do Comércio, on Mondays and third positions, respectively.
Samuel Barata was the best Portuguese, finishing in sixth place, with 1:02.49, followed by Miguel Borges, who was eighth (1.04.55) and Fábio Oliveira, ninth (1:05.22).
In the women’s sector, Ethiopian Ethelmahu Syntayehu Dessi won in 01:10.48 hours, with her compatriot Gete Alemayehu Teklemichael, who ran in 1:13.33, third, behind Dolshi Tesfu Teklegergish, from Eritrea, who was second, with been the mark of 1: 13.33.
Solange Jesus was the best Portuguese athlete in the competition, finishing fourth, with a mark of 1: 15.25, immediately ahead of Sara Duarte, who was fifth, with 1: 20.24
Both racers, who started from the Vasco da Gama Bridge, proved to be very similar with the results and could race in Lisbon, in this return of competitions, interrupted due to the covid-19 pandemic.
