Debrecen doctors’ tennis successes at the World Championships
Antalya – Tennis players who studied at the University of Debrecen or worked here won seven medals at the Turkish Vébé.
The 50th World Championship of Tennis Doctors, the anniversary event of the World Medical Tennis Society, was held at the seaside resort of Antalya, Turkey.

Hungary was represented by seven competitors at the Vébé, including four doctors from Debrecen or the city.
Kinga Bágyi was the most diligent in collecting medals: the associate professor of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Debrecen, the dean of the institution, won the struggles of the 50+ age group, thus collecting the 21st World Medical Championship title of her own career. In addition to his individual lead, the player-team captain of the DEAC Super League team also won a silver medal in pairs as Olivije Gustiene, as well as in a mixed doubles, where his partner, László Orosz, a specialist doctor and lecturer at the University of Debrecen, was the partner.
A Russian doctor didn’t stop at a single medal, as he graduated in Debrecen in a men’s doubles and stood on the top step of the podium on the side of Péter Rák, who played tennis in DEAC and lived in Sopron, and won a bronze medal in some 55+ age groups.
István Degrell, a member of the former Super League team of the Pallag Center, chief obstetrician and gynecologist living in Ludwigsburg, Germany, graduated as a silver medalist in the open individual category and won a gold medal in doubles.
