In the heart of the district Bordeaux Maritime, a new atypical workspace The Banks of the Moon – opened on September 25, 2021, a few steps from the “Berges de la Garonne” tram stop.
This warehouse of 400m2 has been completely redesigned by two brothers and their sister, in less than five months, to create a reception area for artists and craftsmen, which has the particularity of being transformed into a party place in the evening and on weekends.
“People are always surprised to find this place. It is true that we are a little isolated in the middle of a lot of warehouses ”, laughs Nicolas, 32, the youngest of the siblings who had the idea of setting up this family business.
A family affair
“This idea of a festive welcome has been running through my head for several years,” he continues. I had had enough of handling as a temporary worker, I wanted to launch my project with relatives ”.
“At first, it was scary”
The project came to fruition in early 2021. Noting the high prices in central Bordeaux, the siblings discovered this disused hangar near the banks of the Garonne.
“Frankly, it was scary at first! There was dust everywhere, the floor was dirty and it was so dark, Nicolas remembers. The was not maintained and lived from one society to another. The three of us motivated each other and started fitting out the hangar in April. “
At the Berges de la Lune, as in a coworking room, artists and craftsmen can rent premises to practice their profession. “We tried to open our doors to a variety of people who work in different fields,” explains Nicolas.
“The only restriction is that we cannot accommodate trades that are too noisy or that use dangerous materials. ”
Currently, nine artisans have taken over the place: a tattoo artist, an illustrator, a furniture upholsterer, a painter …
Evenings with a DJ in the warehouse
Every Thursday and Friday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., afterworks are organized and everyone is welcome to have a drink and chat with the artisans.
In the future, events will also take place on Saturdays and Sundays. “It’s in preparation. For Saturday evenings, we will invite a DJ to set the mood in exhibitions or vernissages. », Explains the elder.
For Sundays, table football and darts tournaments, workshops and barbecues will be organized from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. “The workshops will be manual in relation to the people who work with us in the warehouse,” he explains.
