After two blank years in terms of organizing the Archéo Jazz Festival in Blainville-Crevon, near Rouen (Seine-Maritime), a thinning is announced with the back, in 2022, of this unmissable musical event that has been part of the cultural landscape for decades. The dates have already been defined: it will be from June 29 to July 2, 2022 and the organizers may be considering, if all the conditions are met, to offer a fifth day of the festival …
Name change for the association which becomes ACB 76
On September 24, the partners were invited to the medieval site for a situation update proposed by the Association du Château de Blainville, ACB 76. The association, as we have just seen, has changed its name. No more acronym, SECBR (Société d’Études Culturelles de Blainville-Crevon and its Region), each of which strove to (re) find the meaning … and therefore place the ACB 76, easier to remember.
Louis, the son, takes up the torch
And this is not the only change since the association changes its presidency. In the Benet family, ask for the son, Louis and it is precisely he who will succeed his father Jérôme, who remained president of the structure for more than 50 years… but the latter remains of course in the association that he continues to maintain. enlightenment of his experience. It is moreover he who took stock of the finances of the association, which obviously condition the poster of Archéo Jazz. Finances which are ensured thanks to the partners, private and institutional, which remained faithful to the association during these two years of musical scarcity.
The partners have not let go of the Archéo Jazz, despite the cancellations
“In 2020, several of our partners, such as the Normandy Region or the Department, still paid subsidies, despite the cancellation and this money was set aside. This year, in 2021, only the Region has paid us the planned aid ”, indicates Jérôme Benet who notes that the association operates without permanent staff and is entirely based on volunteering (around 150 volunteers), which allows him to consider different things than other show planners. In addition to the Region and the Department, other contributors have remained loyal, whether they are very important from the public or the private sector, such as Crédit Agricole by, present in the local fabric to support local actions.
And the castle
It is obviously not only the Archéo Jazz which occupies the ACB 76: the historical setting where the festival is held indeed holds a preponderant place and even inseparable from the event. One does not go without the other. Thus, since the first years when the volunteers have brought out the vestiges of the different eras of the historic site, with the superposition of castles which says a lot about the different and royal owners who follow one another, the hard work has continued to continue to discover and maintain the existing. A work of titans, always carried out by the volunteers of the association, passionate if ever there is one!
After the spectacular investments made last year to protect tower 3 of the building and allow the association to remain able to welcome the public in complete safety, the work will therefore continue this year with many more sites to be completed. to carry out: it is in particular planned to ensure on the networks (water and evacuation), so that they arrive at the back of the big top on the site of the Archéo Jazz.
At the castle level, the evacuation of excavated material in the 14th century cellars is on the program. “It’s one of the site’s gems,” boast the association’s officials, referring in particular to the superb staircase. A significant landslide, however, prevents any progress but suggests the existence of a larger room, still invisible to view. “The objective of the work is to verify this hypothesis and to go to the back of the vault to estimate the size of the room in question without requiring the whole room”, identified the persons in charge, obviously anxious to find out if their assumptions are fair. A project still to be followed …
Thomas Dutronc, unavailable, in talks with AYO
On the poster side now, what can we expect from the next and expected edition of Archéo Jazz? “Some of the names mentioned for 2020 and 2021 will not be available between June 29 and July 2.
This is the case with Thomas Dutronc for example, ”indicates Jérôme Benet who adds that the lyrics have already been used for other artists, such as AYO. To know the final program, it will be necessary to wait until the end of January 2022 … We will keep you informed as and when the names of the artists who will be present this summer in Blainville-Crevon.
