Two German tourists have recently had unusual adventures in their attempt to enter Ukraine through Moldova through Transnistria. They found themselves in the situation of wandering the fields and hills of Ukraine in search of the right point to enter Moldova, and then in Romania, getting to drive their travel truck through some dubious areas, while GPS comes and dictates them. take it to the right, then to the left.
The two Germans – named Mandy and Sebastian, are experienced expeditionists and in their past several travelers through Africa or the Scandinavian and northern areas, including the Murmansk area of Russia. They once traveled with a classic 2002 BMW, then bought an Austrian Steyr truck with which they explored the Nordic lands, and in the spring of this year they changed the truck to a MAN TGM 4×4, with 18320 indexes. they ventured a month ago on a journey through Eastern Europe, taking it to Poland, then to the Ukrainian Carpathians, then planning to enter the Transnistrian region of Moldova, which is very exotic there, in their view, then wanted to go to Odessa, then again to Moldova and there to Romania through the mountains. Finally, the part of the trip they are not referring to today and the part with their adventures to enter Moldova.
In the Ukrainian Carpathians the experience was beautiful, and their truck allows them to get wherever they want, in places totally inaccessible to other types of vehicles. So they spent the night and explored the places they wanted. They advanced towards Chernivtsi, but, for the unclear reason, they did not choose to enter the Republic of Moldova through the northern area, but went further southeast through Ukraine, close to the border. They received simple and soulful hospitality through the villages of Ukraine, which is true. But when they reached Transnistria, they came across a road full of potholes, which they set up to a depth of 20 cm. Then, they found a small border crossing point on the map, and to get to it, navigation took them on some country roads with only agricultural hills. There they were told that it was a small point, with other functions, and that it had to go about 45 km further south in order to enter. And from here the GPS went kind of crazy.
Either they have a GPS that considers the truck capable of anything, or it’s a bit shaky with the programming, because it took any paths as roads, and it kept giving them directions to take it among them. Fortunately, the truck did not let them go, but they had to roam the deserted hills until they reached a point where they could enter.
And after entering, all their impressions about the Transnistrian region, Odessa, then about southeastern Moldova, then about Romania, can be seen below. The video is in German, but subtitles can be enabled with automated translations in many languages.
