Venice district, a cross for residents and a delight for young people who flock to the nightlife. The coexistence between these two Livorno ‘worlds’ is not easy, especially when the nightlife turns into bad-nightlife. Venetians do not sleep, souls are heated, the tension is selling. And the jewel district of the city, symbol of an ancient history that made Livorno unique, is transformed into a ring. There are the needs of the citizens: clean neighborhood, guaranteed parking, quiet living; there are those of the managers of the many clubs that do business from nightfall; there are the desires of young people who are hungry for space, music and noise.
All this was discussed in the city council where, however, an agreement was also reached on the solutions for the Venice district. On the one hand the majority of the Democratic Party with the Five Star Movement, on the other the minorities with the center-right clamoring for more police forces and Buongiorno Livorno whose proposals were rejected to the sender because they were considered strategic, but only in the long term . “On the other hand – says the leader of the Pd Paolo Fenzi – we need to intervene as soon as possible in this neighborhood. Talking about participatory planning, as Buongiorno Livorno did, is fine for us, but not now. We are not against it but there are other priorities” . And one of these is, of course, the urban decor. Many times, even on La Nazione, residents have complained about the dirt left by night bivouacs but also from the imperfect functioning of the public waste collection service. Venice was one of the first districts to launch door to door and not everything went smoothly. “We have sent the administration – said Fenzi – to take stock with Aamps to find solutions. The goal is to make the neighborhood cleaner”.
However, safety does not take a back seat. “Public order is important and fundamental – continues the leader of the Democratic Party – but we can intervene without militarizing the neighborhood. Dialogue with the world of associations will be fundamental to speak more constructively with young people. The Municipal Police can certainly monitor the activities, the premises and fine if the foreseen measures are not observed “. Here, in order to put together the pieces of the ‘Venice district’ puzzle, the residents’ committee will be heard in the sixth commission, the young protagonists of the nightlife and the exhibitors operating in the area will be invited. Let it be the right time.
