Plenty of fun for 8,800 walkers during the Amsterdam City Walk
At the end of September, Le Champion received the green light from the Municipality of Amsterdam to organize the walking event. The event industry has experienced a lot of weather over the past thirty years and now walkers can finally make the Amsterdam City Walk first on the Champion walking calendar.
Traditionally, the start of the 17, 20, 26 and 33 km was in the Olympic Stadium, where the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, organized by Le Champion, also starts on the same day. For the 10 km, the starting signal sounds for the first time from Rembrandtplein. The 14 km starts for the second time from Ven Amsterdam. Each distance showed its own side of the city and along the way, walkers could join the many catering establishments, which had opened their doors extra early especially for them. In total, 44 highlighted highlights of the city were walked. Including the Vondelkerk, the Scheepvaarthuis, the Museumplein and the Beurs van Berlage. Partner Kesbeke surprised the participants in the Vondelpark with an acid bomb. In addition, the Amsterdam entertainment on the routes for that extra bit of Amsterdam atmosphere.
The ideal walking weather did not let the participants down. In the early morning it was crystal clear, without a breath of wind. Later it got better and eventually the sun showed itself during the period when the masters were finishing. All the terraces on the Stadionplein were always pleasantly occupied, resulting in the alternative closing party that ended well.
