Municipality of Amsterdam wants to remove fake drug items from stores
The municipality of Amsterdam is going time selling fake cannabis and magic mushrooms products. According to the municipality, these products are misleading, promote drug use and contribute to the drug image of the city. That has to change, the municipality believes, just like the existing drug appearance in the streets of the center.
The fake drugs on offer let the consumer know that there is cannabis in them, which is not the case. In addition to getting a low-threshold supply in, for example, bakeries, food shops and small supermarkets, it can happen that drugs are easy to buy.
Upcoming week in six businesses in the Dam and Rembrandtplein area is driven by violating the rules and selling items containing fake cannabis.
In the past year, settlement of entrepreneurs of the municipality to adjust their assortment. She sold too many tourist products of fake cannabis related items. This was at odds with the retail diversity landscape, which states that new stores targeting tourists cannot be added.
