More than 70 associations are debating the preservation of the oceans in Lisbon today – Society
More than 70 national organizations gather this Saturday in Lisbon at the Convention of Organizations for a Clean Ocean (COOL) to share experiences and ideas and think about how they can “leave a mark” at the UN Oceans Conference in 2022.
“Next year’s UN conference will certainly be a topic to focus on and we will make a survey of these ideas these solutions how will together when they have some role and intervene in a remarkable way and leave their mark on the conference,” he told Lusa Flávia Zurga Silva, project manager at the Oceano Azul Foundation, organizer of COOL, which takes place this Saturday at Jardim das Ondas, next to Oceanário de Lisboa.
The meeting pretends to be a moment for the dozens of organizations that develop work for the conservation and protection of the oceans to “share experiences and show the work they do throughout the year”, as well as to allow “to create synergies and opportunities for collaboration in projects futures”.
The event will promote projects and calls for action by organizations and citizens, said Flávia Zurga Silva, referring to examples of projects such as the one related to the hurling of marine mammals, by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF), and there are also problems global in scope, with the aim of establishing clear priorities for urgent joint action.
