Good news for AC Milan. Faced with many unavailability, the Rossoneri could count on Zlatan Ibrahimovic against Hellas Verona this Saturday at 8:45 p.m. on behalf of the eighth day of Serie A. The Swedish striker has so far played only thirty minutes this season against Lazio (2-0), between two injuries, enough to score a goal. Returning from a sprained knee, he followed up with an Achilles tendon injury, which notably played late in the two Champions League matches against Atlético (1-2) and Liverpool (2 -3 ).
The end of a long period of unavailability
Zlatan had missed the Euro with Sweden following his knee injury, and must have been hit. The striker was only able to play 19 of 38 Serie A games last season, alternating between muscle injuries, Covid-19, torn abductors and calf injury. He had been training with the squad since Oct. 14, and is already set to be in the squad this weekend.
AC Milan are currently second in Serie A with 19 points behind Napoli (21 points), but are going through a complicated period. French goalkeeper Mike Maignan was recently saved from a wrist when Junior Messias, Florenzi and Tiemoue Bakayoko were also injured and forfeited. French side Theo Hernandez “and Brahim Diaz have themselves tested positive for Covid-19.
The return of Zlatan will therefore do good for the men of Stefano Pioli, who receives Hellas Verona, known to bring down the cadets of the Italian championship. Olivier Giroud is also back in the group, he who until now suffered from lumbago and was absent from the group against Atalanta before the truce (3-2 victory). Bosnian midfielder Rade Krunic will also return from injury this Saturday.
