Casa Pia advances in the Portuguese Cup by eliminating Valadares – Sport
Casa Pia, from the II Portuguese Football League, passed today to the fourth round of the Football Cup, after beating Valadares, in the Portuguese Championship, by 3-1.
The balance guided the first part, with the formation of Vila Nova de Gaia to be able to face the Lisboners. But, in the second half, an experience ended up speaking louder and was decisive.
The match starts balanced, with rhythm, and the goals didn’t take long to happen.
Casa Pia, more organized, opened the scoring after eight minutes, through Jota. The striker took advantage of a bad delay to the Valadares goalkeeper, controlled the ball, dodged the goalkeeper and shot into the goal without much difficulty.
However, Valadares kept up the pressure and chased the tie. Something that ended up happening two minutes later. Diogo Cunha won a ball and inside the area, on the left side, he shot in an arc and scored a goal of great technical execution.
When the game was equal again, the match resulted in some balance over the first 45 minutes, but always with Casa Pia wanting to impose itself against an expectant Valadares and quick in the transitions to try to surprise the II Liga team.
For the second half, and in an expected way, Casa Pia entered more enlightened and efficient.
In the 61st minute, the team led by Filipe Martins got back in front with a goal from Leonardo Lelo. After a cross from Sanca, the wide right came to the far post and, with a header, made Casa Pia’s second.
Soon after, in the 64th minute, Valadares again showed danger. Rafa, in a good individual play, recovered the strength from outside the area, but the ball ended up going out beside the post.
The result ended up being closed in the 69th minute with a goal by João Vieira. The Casa Pia forward, low on the right in the penalty area, shot crossed and made the third, thus closing the count and ensuring the passage of the Lisbon team to the next stage of the competition.
