Brazilian students visas that allow entry into Portugal – Observer
It has been at least four months since some Brazilian students have started the process of visualizing their visas so that they can stay in Portugal during the school year. the Brazilian newspaper The globe revealed, however, that there are several students who are still waiting for the process to be concluded. There are those who are in Brazil, attending classes via computer and paying for accommodation in Portugal.
In early October, the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics revealed that Brazil was even the most responsible for the increase in the number of international students in Portugal, taking a full course. Of the total of 47 thousand students in this situation, 17 thousand are Brazilian.
Fernanda Barazzetti deviates from having arrived at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra for a course in Civil Engineering. He sent the necessary documentation on August 27th, the process began to be analyzed on September 6th and still does not know any results.
“It has been under analysis for 40 days. On Monday the SEF requested more documents (evidence of livelihoods). I sent them all, declaring that I will have as expenses paid by the university, which will provide a room in the accommodation, such as meals at the university restaurant and exemption from academic fees. And they asked for proof again ”, reports the student who is following the classes in Coimbra through the internet.
A student who asked the Brazilian newspaper to remain anonymous says he has supported 780 euros of enrollment for a master’s degree in Lisbon, with access to a scholarship that covers half of the tuition fees, according to the academic results he achieves. “I’m afraid of failing and losing the scholarship, because I can’t get to Portugal. I have been waiting for a visa for more than 86 days, the classes have already been prepared and there is no answer. There are those who have received the documentation in September and have already received the visa, but there is no forecast”, says the student.
The process is causing surprise to those who are faced with the blockages because it is the SEF page which discriminates that “higher education students will not be required to be admitted to an approved higher education institution under the terms of the ordinance of the members of the Government in the areas of Internal Administration and Higher Education” or, in specific cases, “scholarship holders of Instituto Camões”.
