Albi Rugby League opens the season against Toulouse Olympique
Finally the difficulties begin! It was the cry of the heart of a minister of the popular front when he came to business. This expression can be used on behalf of the leaders, volunteers and players of the Albi Rugby League. Frustrated, like many others, by a season behind closed doors, deprived of matches for five long months due to the lack of qualification of the team at the end of the last regular season, they are eager to regain their hands running of the Mazicou stadium.
Let them be reassured: the recovery will be good. The beautiful lawn will be on top, impeccably mowed at the start of the week, the players will be ready, they have been in the starting blocks for more than two months. The new recruits will not be outdone, they do not balk at training. Chase Bernard, whose portrait we will soon release, told us, present for a month now since his arrival from the Antipodes, he had reached a satisfactory level of form. Because, both abroad and here, this damn pandemic has stopped or disrupted the competitions.
The situation has changed
For this opening match, there will be, it seems to us, a significant change of situation. The publication yesterday of the club’s new workforce in these columns makes the strengthening of the team’s power obvious. As much as Albi returned ten or fifteen kilos per player on the scales, to the most powerful teams in the championship, the reinforcement is obvious this year.
The adaptation of the new ones should be fast, because most of them were recruited in our own championship (Saint-Gaudens, Carcassonne).
Mature rear lines
The lines, very young, should receive a great confidence which has been received during the long past season, and acquired a healthy maturity. The opponent remains… This two TO team, struggling in recent years, recovered last year. With the locomotive that their team is now in the English Superleague, we must expect another standard this season. What to give an exhilarating match, tonight, in Mazicou!
Tonight in Mazicou: 5 pm Albi Rugby League-TO juniors; at 7 p.m., Elite 1 Albi Rugby League-TO.
