With the Airbus A380 from Frankfurt to London
Fancy a city trip? To London, for example? November would be pretty good for that. Not because of the famous weather that awaits them in England, of course. Because of the aircraft: And British Airways is using the A380 between London and Frankfurt.
Admittedly, the islands are not necessarily among the prettiest travel destinations in late fall. At this time of year it is finally wet and cold at home in Germany. A short trip to London between November 8th and December 2nd could still be worthwhile – especially if you are a fan of the Airbus A380. Because during this period, Great Britain’s flag carrier British Airways is using the big ship for scheduled flights between Frankfurt and London. After more than a year and a half of a compulsory break, the A380 crews are supposed to gain flight experience in this way before British Airways regularly uses their super jumbos again on long-haul routes from December.
Daily London-Frankfurt
The A380 flights between Frankfurt and London can now be booked – however, there seems to be only seats for the lower deck, the upper deck is (so far) blocked for bookings. According to the booking mask, the A380 flights are mainly the circulations with the flight number BA203 / BA202. The superjumbo is planned for this pair of flights from Sunday to Friday. BA202 leaves London Heathrow at 7:10 a.m. local time for Frankfurt and arrives at Germany’s largest airport at 9:55 a.m. local time. BA203 then takes off at 11:25 am in Frankfurt and lands after a flight time of one hour and 50 minutes at 12:15 local time in London. On Saturdays, on the other hand, the A380 circulation is postponed to the afternoon and evening: at 3:55 p.m. local time, the superjumbo leaves for Frankfurt as the BA908 and returns to Heathrow as the BA909 at 9 p.m.
Five active A380s by the end of the year
By the way: If the weather does get too humid for you after your arrival in London, you could also plan a visit to a metropolis in southern Europe: British Airways will be deploying the A380 from Heathrow in November not only to Frankfurt, but also to the Spanish one Capital Madrid. Flight numbers: BA462 / BA463 (Saturdays: BA456 / 457). From December onwards, the A380 at British Airways will again do what it was built for: transport passengers over long distances. The first destinations from London will probably be Dubai and Miami. According to reports, the British want to reactivate five of their twelve A380s by the end of the year. These are the aircraft with the license plates G-XLEA, G-XLEF, G-XLEG, G-XLEI and G-XLEL.
