The Republic of Moldova is sending 20 medical staff to help Lețcani
20 doctors and nurses from the Republic of Moldova will come to help the medical staff at the modular hospital in Lețcani, announced on Friday the head of the Department for Emergency Situations, the state secretary in the Ministry of Interior Raed Arafat.
“I received, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the offer of the Republic of Moldova to send a medical staff. (…) It was decided to accept this offer. There will be 20 medical staff that will be used in Iasi, at Lețcani Hospital, in addition to the military and civilian staff working there “, said Raed Arafat in a press conference.
He specified that there were also discussions with the representatives of the Romanian College of Physicians and the temporary medical practice documents will be issued.
“We had a discussion with the presidents of the College of Physicians, temporary medical practice documents are to be issued. It’s about doctors and nurses. It was discussed in Iasi. There is a great need and they are even welcome to support, to allow the increase of the number of beds in Lețcani. Colleagues from Moldova are going to arrive, to participate in all our colleagues from Iași in the care of patients with COVID problems “, said the head of DSU.
In turn, Romania helped the Republic of Moldova with medicines and medical equipment last year, when the neighboring country was going through a critical situation due to the pandemic. A team of 42 Romanian doctors and nurses went on a mission in May 2020 to the Republic of Moldova to support the medical staff in this country. Subsequently, Romania continued its aid and was the first country to donate vaccine doses to the Republic of Moldova, in February 2021.
