Strong emotions at the Portugal Air Summit – O Jornal Económico
Saturday and Sunday will be days of strong emotions, culminating in the final of the EuRoc, European Rocletry Challenge, which brings together students from various European schools, this year with 19 teams and around 400 students from all over Europe, including the first time, a Portuguese team from the Instituto Superior Técnico.
For Saturday are the drones and hang gliding spreadsheets, as well as an exhibition of the double Cajó who, on top of his motorcycle, at 2:30 pm, will show his riskiest exercises. A ticket is also planned for a plane from the A 321 LR from TAP Air Portugal, at 3 pm, next to the runway at Ponte de Sor aerodrome, on a flight that will delight the audience, and from FAP with a ticket for the F16s.
Castor Fantoba, third pilot currently in the world in Free style, and Spanish national champion in both the Classic and Free Style, will be present at the Portugal Air Summit, in his new Extra 330 aircraft, in the purest acrobatic style. Its screening will take place at 15:30. Luís Estrela Garção, Airbus A330 Commander Pilot at TAP Air Portugal and specialist in aerobatics since 1995, will also perform his aerobatics skills at 4:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday, with his Pitts S2b. Considered by many pilots to be a true living legend, flying in a Pitts Special it is the realization of a dream and the possibility of performing acrobatic maneuvers that are absolutely impossible to carry out in the vast majority of other planes.
On Saturday, still watch at 5:30 pm, at Pylon Demo, a demonstrative chicane with eight planes, two of them in the Extreme category and 6 Sport Class. At night, there will be a show of 60 drones of light and leds, the Aurora Drone Show, at 8:40 pm, which tells the story of Aurora, a girl on a quest for happiness, an allusion to the resumption of life after the pandemic.
AeroSPARX are the next stars. The only aviation team in the world that combines acrobatic flight with pyrotechnics and acrobatics, comes into action at 20:55, for 45 minutes to light up the skies of Ponte de Sor aerodrome and leave everyone present in awe. On Sunday, they return at 1:30 pm, for another exhibition, this time with smoke and color. AeroSPARX has dazzled the public with its accounts all over the world, passing through countries as diverse as Saudi Arabia and New Zealand, being already a recurring attraction at the Portugal Air Summit with its shows night pyrotechnics.
The night ends with a Light Army Orchestra (OLE) that will interpret different themes of light and traditional music. Sunday, as highlighted moments, a ticket of the Airbus A321 LR from HI Fly, at 14:15 and two F16 fighters of the Air Force at 15:45. There will also be an exhibition of the Phantom Patrol, at 4:15 pm, with the RV6 (CS-XAO) and VariEze (CS-XAV) aircraft, in an exhibition that consists of a formation flight with crossings and acrobatics mixed together. Similar to what happened in 2019, this year, Castor Fantoba will face a BMW M3 Competition and the new BMW S1000 RR competition motorcycle in a race.
The Portugal Air Summit ends with the EuRoc awards ceremony, European Rocletry Challenge. The event is a joint organization between Ponte de Sor City Council and TheRace company.
