Sommelier from Prague and Central Bohemia won a prestigious survey
For the first place in the Bohemia Sekt Trophée championship, Forman won a valuable title, a traveling cup or a piece of jewelry in the shape of tastevin, a symbol of sommelier. “It’s a fantastic feeling. I definitely recommend all young sommelier who have not yet signed up this year to try it next year. Many thanks to my girlfriend Adéla for helping to prepare for the competition, “said Forman after the competition.
In this year’s competition, 17 competitors, 3 women and 14 men, appeared before a professional seven-member jury composed of leading tasters and other wine experts. “In the morning, they took a knowledge quiz, which included questions about wine, but also other drinks, such as coffee, tea and spirits. Furthermore, a blind tasting was waiting for them, followed by the decantation of red wine for the top five, “described the vice-president of the Association of Sommeliers of the Czech Republic Ivo Dvořák.
The three best competitors advanced to the evening final round, where their task was to demonstrate their knowledge and serving white and red wine and a sparkling wine of celebrities in front of the spectators. “Sommelier must be able to communicate well, respond promptly to questions and with nobility to withstand the sometimes very specific requirements of guests. This year, the knowledge and nerves of the competitors were verified by Jana Stryková and David Prachař, who became guests of our model theater restaurant, “added Dvořák.
Pavla Zbíralová, a student of ISŠ HPOS Příbram, also took a success in the secondary category Talent, taking second place.
