Russia is consulting with Germany on a new transit contract with Ukraine
The current agreement expires in 2024.

Russia is already consulting with Germany on the publication of a new gas transit contract with Ukraine after 2024.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak on the sidelines of the “Russian Energy Week”, says TASS.
“We are meeting (Georg Graf)” Waldersee, with a representative of Germany (with requests for gas transit through Ukraine). I am just consulting on this situation, “he said, responding to inquiries when negotiations could begin on a new contract for gas transit through Ukraine after 2024.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom in 2021 has reduced gas transit through Ukraine three times.

On December 30, 2019, Ukraine and Russia signed a contract for gas transit to Europe for a period of five years with the possibility of extension for ten years.
The document envisages the reservation of Gazprom’s capacity for gas transit in the amount of 65 billion cubic meters. M (178 million cubic meters per day) in 2020 and 40 billion cubic meters. m (110 million cubic meters per day) in 2021-2024.
Gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transmission system in January-September 2021 will be reduced by 17% compared to the same period last year – up to 32.6 billion cubic meters.
