National tribute to Hubert Germain at the Invalides, in Paris

The last flame of the Resistance went out on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Hubert Germain died at the age of 101. UN national tribute he will be returned on Friday, October 15 in what was his last home: the Invalids. The last Companion of the Liberation will be, on November 11, buried at Mont Valérien where the last vault awaits him.
“Funeral honors” before the burial of Hubert Germain
There will be no funeral convoy on the Alexandre III bridge, the traditional route for convoys of killed soldiers, since Hubert Germain died in his room at the Invalides, at the age of 101. He will receive, Friday, the “funeral honors” during a military ceremony. It will be led by Emmanuel Macron, who will deliver a eulogy indicates the Elysee.
The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. in the courtyard of Les Invalides. Hubert Germain’s coffin will enter it after the Marseillaise, and will be greeted with military airs from the Foreign Legion, body where Hubert Germain had the rank of master corporal, obtained as an honorary title in September 2021. A minute of silence will be respected.
“In the continuity of this tribute, the burial ceremony of Hubert Germain will be completed by the President of the Republic on November 11”, underlines the Elysee. Starting from the Arc de Triomphe, Hubert Germain joins the Mont-Valérien (Hauts-de-Seine), high place of the Resistance where the last Companion of the Liberation must be buried.
