From all over Switzerland to the literature festival in Zurich
“The limits of my language mean the limits of my world”, this quote from Ludwig Wittgenstein is the motto of this year’s edition of “Zurich Reads” and aptly describes the spirit of the festival.
The book and literature festival unites the most diverse forms of literature in a wide variety of locations over five days: literature is read and staged in bookshops, in publishing houses, on stage and on boat trips, on tours and on the tram.
More than 300 authors appear and local literature is also well represented. Alexandre Hmine, Alan Schweingruber, Dana Grigorcea, Peter Stamm, Franz Hohler, Hildegard E. Keller, Alberto Nessi, Beat Sterchi, Katja Brunner, Judith Keller, Johanna Lier, Lea Catrina, Martina Caluori, Ruth Loosli, Sunil Mann, Simone Meier, Renata Burckhardt, Yusuf Yeşilöz, Matthias Ackeret, Lukas Bärfuss, Ladina Bordoli, Claudia Dahinden, Nadine Gerber, Mireille Zindel, Michael Hugentobler, Urs Augstburger and many others. “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world”, this quote from Ludwig Wittgenstein adorns this year’s key visual of “Zurich reads”.
These boundaries are to be broken down with various events – internationally and nationally. For example, five authors from different parts of the country are invited to talk about their books and their translations. Around 25 publishers from western Switzerland and numerous Graubünden publishers are guests at the publishing exhibition. This year’s edition of the book and literature festival “Zurich reads” will take place from October 27 to 31, 2021. (pd.)
