19 – The Var and Monaco drop the mask: and the Alpes-Maritimes?
Since October 12, the Var and the Principality of Monaco are no longer required to wear a mask in establishments open to the public. Why is this not the case in the Alpes-Maritimes?
It is an evolution allowed thanks to the “sanitary pass”. Since Tuesday, October 12, people with the precious sesame are no longer required to wear the mask in places requiring the presentation of a QR Code.
Clearly, it will be possible to breathe without a piece of tissue or paper in front of the mouth in bars, restaurants and cinemas, for example.
A freedom cannot take advantage of our friends from the Var. Our neighbors have indeed recorded an incidence rate of 46 cases detected on average per 100,000 inhabitants. Positioning below the alert threshold of 50.
The mask remains mandatory for public events generating large gatherings: flea markets, fairs, funfairs and open-air markets. A restriction that will be lifted on November 1.
For the rest, nothing changes. Establishments that welcome the public without a “sanitary pass” retain the obligation to wear a mask, just like public transport.
Monaco takes liberties
In the Principality, the rules are also becoming more flexible thanks to the improvement of the Covid-19 indicators.
Sunday, October 10, 5 new patients were hospitalized at the Princess Grace Hospital Center (CHPG). 13 people were taken care of by the home monitoring center.
It is now possible to breathe without constraint on the famous Place du Casino, but also on the esplanade of the Fontvieille shopping center as well as at the bus stops and tracks of the train station.
The Condamine and Monte-Carlo markets are also affected between 7 am and 2 pm.
What about the Alpes-Maritimes?
On one side the Var, on the other Monaco and in the middle of our department whose rules remain fixed.
Wearing a mask remains compulsory in the streets of the municipalities from 06 to 18 October by decision of the prefect.
What about places open to the public with the “sanitary pass”? Nothing was announced.
But the evolution of the situation at home should allow a relaxation of the rules in some time. As of October 15, the incidence rate has stabilized at 60 cases on average per 100,000 inhabitants, i.e. slightly above the alert threshold of 50.
