AntwerpThe Dutch war film ‘The Battle of the Scheldt’, which is set in our country, is distributed worldwide via streaming service Netflix. In Antwerp, the film will be promoted at the MAS on Thursday and Friday evenings. In one of the docks next to the museum, a trailer will be displayed on a screen that lies on the water.
With the event, Netflix Belgium wants to close curious passers-by to the Eilandje and draw attention to the release of the film. ‘The Battle of the Scheldt’ is about the final phase of the Second World War in the Netherlands, when the liberation of Antwerp and the port of Antwerp also had to be recaptured from the Germans. The island of Walcheren in Zeeland, which ran on the water, fought thousands of soldiers against the German army. The lives of a Dutch boy who fights for the Germans, an English pilot and a girl from Zeeland who ends up in the resistance are connected.
‘The Battle of the Scheldt’ is a Levitate production with Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. as director. The screenplay is by Paula van der Oest. The leading roles are for, among others, Gijs Blom, Susan Radder and the Flemish actors Marthe Schneider and Jan Bijvoet.
The trailer of ‘The Battle of the Scheldt’ will be sent to the MAS every half hour on Thursday and Friday evenings from 8 pm to 11 pm. Entrance is free.
