To avenge himself, he attacks a man with a machete … but gets the wrong target
A 46-year-old man, homeless, was sentenced by the courts for attacking a grocer in Avignon (Vaucluse) with a stabbing weapon on Monday, October 11. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, 8 of which were closed, reports
The Dauphiné Libéré.
On the day of the events, the forty-something had made himself alcoholic in a grocery store in the town and attacked the manager with a 45 cm machete. The latter was injured in the arm while trying to protect himself, details the newspaper. The victim had tendons and nerves in one hand severed.
The alcoholic abuser
The police investigation revealed the perpetrator’s motives. This was actually a mistake of part of it, explains the local daily. Moments before, he had been mistreated by a shopkeeper on the same street after a dispute with young people.
Furious at having been thus molested, the man left to retrieve the weapon in a squat before returning to take justice into his own hands. In the confusion caused by his state of emesis, the man simply took the wrong target and attacked the grocer who had nothing to do with the facts.
