The international technology exhibition “Beyond 4.0” of TIF-Helexpo SA, which starts this year at the standards of the MWC (Mobile World Congress) of Barcelona, aims to contribute to the emergence of Thessaloniki and Greece as an international technology hub in the coming years. emerged as a strong regional organization, resonating throughout southeastern Europe.
The vision for Beyond 4.0, which is coming to “hit” on the historical legacy of the oldest exhibition “Infosystem” (s.s. was last organized in 2011, closing its cycle in its 25th event), presented today the president of TIF-Helexpo SA, Tasos Tzikas.
During the press conference for the 1st “Beyond 4.0”, which will take place on October 14-16, with a central theme of Technical Intelligence, the managing director of TIF-Helexpo SA, Kyriakos Pozrikidis, announced that the exhibition is increasing at booths 7 , 12,13,14 and 15. It has 120 exhibitors, of which 30 participate with applications for smart cities (Smart Cities) and 60 are start-ups. Foreign direct entries come from Cyprus, Belgium and Italy, while indirect exhibitors come from 10 countries.
The example of Lisbon and the goal of Thessaloniki “to get things done”
Some years ago, Lisbon decided to spend € 5 million a year for five years to host the Web Summit, a technology event aimed at bringing together the world’s leading technology “players” in the Portuguese capital. The result of the investment was initially doubtful, but the “bet” came out.
The Web Summit, which at times has hosted celebrities such as Elon Musk (SpaceX, Tesla) and Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook, Istagram), has put Lisbon in the world a “map” of technology and innovation, as he pointed out in the interview. The founder of Industry Disruptors Game Changers (IDGG), Michalis Stagos, who gave special emphasis to the goal of Beyond 4.0 “to get things done”.
This year, Thessaloniki in turn seeks to invest in an international technology exhibition, which aims to become the benchmark in the field of technology for Greece and Southeast Europe, offering financial benefits: events such as the Web Summit in Lisbon or The MWC in Barcelona, described as a “soft power” event, attracts the city, which hosts 200,000 or even 500,000 people in a matter of days, “something that could easily leave hundreds of euros in the local economy,” as Stagos visits. adding that both the strategic position of Thessaloniki, as well as the theme of the exhibition itself, make it a primary exhibition event, instead of a copy of other similar events.
International players, pioneering thinkers, cutting-edge companies
Addressing the press conference, the Deputy Minister of Interior (Macedonia Thrace), Stavros Kalafatis, stressed that Thessaloniki is evolving at a pace of innovation and technology and “next is to want to attract to the region”, pioneering thinkers and businesses. Four main areas, twice with important presences
