San Marino, Green Pass towards the extension for those vaccinated with Sputnik
The validity of the vaccination pass of San Marino immigrants immunized with Sputnik will be extended to 31 December 2021. “We have received a guarantee that everything will happen in good time so as not to have any gaps with respect to the current exemption”, says Roberto Ciavatta, Secretary of State for Health and social security of the Republic of San Marino. The dialogue is underway with the Italian government in view of October 15, when the validity of the San Marino certificate on the national territory will expire. The document is recognized as interoperable by the guidelines, but Italy has decided to consider valid only EU membership certificates issued after the administration of a drug approved by Ema, the drug agency. Sputnik V is not among them.
“The socio-economic fabric of San Marino is closely connected with the Italian one – continues Ciavatta – We are talking about at least a thousand university students who need a valid Green Pass to study in Italy, 1200 workers and over 3000 sportsmen who attend Italian women for various reasons and do so showing the certificate ».
There are about twenty thousand citizens of the Republic of San Marino immunized with Sputnik V, the Russian vaccine engineered by the Gamaleya Institute of Moscow. In January, the Italian government signed a bilateral agreement which provides for the sale of doses for at least 25,000 San Marino residents. That is 50,000 vaccines. Spain and France have entered into similar agreements with Andorra and Monaco. But due to delays in deliveries, the management of the San Marino vaccination campaign soon went into trouble. Thus the Republic of Titan received orders from Sputnik V through the Russian Investment Fund. A cycle that has made it possible to open up to paid administrations also to tourists: 50 euros per person for a complete vaccination.
“We have also discussed a hypothesis for a long time – continues Ciavatta – and it will be necessary to verify whether on the Italian side there will be the possibility of a technical point of view, to review the methods of availability of this derogation – continues Ciavatta to the microphones of Rtv – trying to ensure that we do not continue to circulate with our vaccination certificate ». In reality, the Italian government has invited the San Marino citizens to administer a third dose of serum received from among those recognized but, for now, this input seems not to have been accepted by the authorities, who are aiming for the extension of 31 December.
